you probably can do the nutty bro advice of 1g per pound of body weight but i've always just assumed you'd poop out a lot of that
you'd just rather have your protein available in your digestive tract for absorption capped instead of not enough
read about clean bulking versus dirty bulking
you can count your calories and macros, find your resting metabolic rate, pinpointing weight gain goals
and as long as you're making gains on the bar--progressively adding weight and/or reps to your barbells every week you'll certainly get more muscle

you're going to want to be in a caloric surplus. doesn't need to be big. You're going to want to train hard with good form until failure. Take in AT LEAST your weight in grams of protein.

Now if you're trying to lose belly fat, while adding muscle - thats a different story.
