Hi!

How can I permanently remove Yahoo from my PC?
I have to change the default search engine from Yahoo to Google almost every day and have already uninstalled Yahoo dozens of times. And he's always there.
Yahoo doesn't even appear in my installed programs anymore...

I've read that it could be caused by a virus, but I would rule that out.
My default browser is Chrome and I have switched everything there to Google several times. But as I said, Yahoo is always back there.
As soon as I open a new tab, I'm in Yahoo...

Does anyone have any help with what else I can do?

Thank you in advance. :hail:

Can you take a picture of a new tab to show us?

If you think you may have a virus, I recommend downloading Malwarebytes and doing a full scan. Some do redirect you to Yahoo like you mentioned

i did both... Google is confirmed as the default search engine and Yahoo is removed. But the next time you log in, it's the other way around again

Do you have Mcafee installed? If you do here's an article to assist you: https://www.mcafee.com/support/?locale=en-US&articleId=TS102755&fromSearch=true&page=shell&shell=article-view

I'd personally recommend uninstalling Mcafee and use the Windows Defender + Malwarebytes combo.

I did it following these instructions. Now Yahoo is gone. But I had that before and then Yahoo was back and also as the default.
But maybe it will work permanently now :)

Thanks for your help!!!

No problem! As long as secure search is disabled, Yahoo shouldn't come back :)
