To be clear, they never commercialized terminator seeds due to protest from farmers/eco activists. to that point though, farmers tend to purchase seed to plant every year anyway as it gives better crop yields than replanting seeds taken from a harvest. Secondly, terminator seeds are a neat technology if you're worried about GMOs escaping into the wild as they're inherently unable to escape and reproduce.
Not cause by Monsanto actually. As Monsanto seed sales went up in India, farmer suicides went down.
People died because Monsanto prioritized profit and expansion at any cost. Destroying farmland and peoples lives.
If you ask Indian people who started the problem they will say Monsanto.
Just because they've spent billions upon billions swaying big Indian agriculture doesn't magically make them a good corporate entity.
What's with you and not understanding "root causation" ???? If Monsanto never went to India and DIRECTLY intervened no one kills themselves over being financially ruined.
What's worse is the fact Monsanto got away with this not for a year or two but for DECADES. Because the average dirt poor farmer doesn't have the means to produce a lawsuit it was constant corruption. Only when the Indian government stepped in did it finally stop. Thousands of Indian farmers(mostly men) committed suicide because of the HOPELESSNESS surrounding the issue.
Do you think the individual farmers families who lost a loved one saw a penny? Nope.
If you pay off the government I guess you didn't commit a crime.
I should add there's a difference when a 1st world corporation takes advantage of one of the poorest peoples on the planet.
This is exactly what the British empire did to India for 150 years under the East India Company....
Wrong on so many levels where should we begin?
