Bought for around $710 a ready-to-use new PC with the following specs:

- Gainward GeForce GTX 4060 (yeay)
- E5 2696 v3 (urgs)
- 64 GB DDR 3 Ram Micron with 1600 MHz (uff)
- 2 TB SSD
- cheapest of everything I have to assume: 600 W power supply, water-cooling for CPU, case.

I have the chance to send it back within 30 days. The commercial was misleading - but not wrong, I just didn't read the smaller printed items. The price seems still okay.

I want to use it for gaming - I guess I am weighing between the annoying sending it back and how okay this this is nonetheless. RAM and CPU in any way fit for for the GPU / do they harmonize in a magical way I am not aware of? - and also how is my bang for the buck - so is this a fair deal nonetheless.

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say the motherboard is one of those funky Chinese ones?
I'd return it.
The 4060 doesn't even make it worth it.
I'm having trouble getting rid of an old X99 computer with a 5960X and a Titan Pascal for less than that

You guess right - it's Chinese - as I live in China and needed a new PC - also explains (but does not excuse) my buying this using Google translate and not catching the ambiguous wording... "Better performance of 3D rendering then a *fat print* i9 12900k - very small print: CPU: E5... - my naive brain thought I was buying a 12900...

So for me really the question of just keeping it and learning my lesson or trying to get them to take it back with all that comes with it given language barrier and such. They said they will take it back though.

Looks like everything is bottom of the barrel components besides the 4060. Not sure on the availability of decent PCs in China, but you can find a lot better for that price point in the US.

I’d say test it for a week and see if it’ll do what you need it to. Then you can decide if you want to take it back

Things are available but similar price as US. I also wondered but you can buy a normal priced 4070ti for under 1000 bucks - even 4090 is no problem - not sure what chips they restrict.

I don't need super high end but this thing feels like a small war ship with a tiny sail and no motor... thing is I am a middle aged tired / lazy person that really weighs the effort of packing it back up vs. having a better PC for some more money. There is a i5 13400 with that card and better ram (ddr4) for $820 for example.

Without seeing what motherboard it is, that $820 computer is better value than the one you currently have. i5 13400 beats the E5 2696 v3 in a lot of stuff, and DDR4 will help you a lot compared to DDR3. E5 2696 v3 is a 10 year old processor compared to the i5 13400 only being a year old. I'd just hold off to see if it's worth the hassle of returning :)

e5-2696 v3 -- assuming it's modified with an all-core turbo unlock on all 18 cores, accompanied with resizable bar, is no slouch.
Ram is quad channel, still performing decent, albiet DDR4 would be preferred.

If this is just for gaming, the build doesn't make a lot of sense, but it's honestly fine if the bios has been modified with above listed ^^
