There is a re-make (anime) of Rorouni Kenshin (my spelling maybe off) if you are interested in when the Japan was influenced by the Westerners and they banned Samurai wearing Swords in public and the police in townships were... I will leave it up to you to decide.
Also. Netflix created two(2) movies based on the same series "Rorouni Kenshin" (if the title is the same) using real actors base on the 50ish episode Anime (original) and they weren't too bad to watch, however, the Anime has a lot more depth to it.
Also, they made a "Death Note" series with real people acting as well... not sure if it is Netflix, but maybe you can check with your subscription site to check it out.
I looked at what you have watched, I have a generalization of your requirements, have you tried watching NCIS (I think there are 14 Seasons = 14 years) and combined with NCIS Los Angeles (where they link in with NCIS) for like 10 seasons (10 years) and as for NCIS New Orleans (Scott Bakula from Quantum Leap in the 80's), I will let you decide whether it is up to your viewing... there is another NCIS that I have not bothered to watch.
I know this sounds bad, but I enjoyed watching "The Vampire Diaries" and the other TV shows that came about like "The Originals" etc... yes based on Vampires, Werewolves, the Originals (basically the birth of both beings) and also with Magic and witches.
It all depends on your genre and what you like to watch... I can be a clooney and say to watch "Friends", but that is just... hmm, whatever dunce...
