I just flew through Torchlight Infinite because i like the fast past ARPG's. I'm thinking about playing DI now, but not for the single player. I want to be able to have fun with PVP end game. Is this something I can accomplish by spending less than $100?

D:I is a typical gacha game, though the core system is solid (Diablo 3 basically). If you don't like gacha games, this is not for you. This means swiping is mandatory, if you wan't to be at the absolute top. If you just want to have fun, and you don't give a damn about gear-score, you have a massive campaign for free, and lot's of dailies, guilds pve/pvp-content. Resonance is a factor but not the deciding factor for progression, just be realistic, you will never be there where the >5000$ spenders are. There are some good value packs int the store, which will help you regardless so it doesn't mean you can't compete with them. If you want to strictly remain F2P-only I cannot recommend this game, this game is made for people who like to gamble a little bit..

I doubt it. It was made to discourage people from playing it at release to prevent it becoming the dead trash that it is now.

It’s just a cash grab game, there isn’t any “gambling” involved because you don’t win anything. Spending $4,000 at a chance for a 5 star gem isn’t gambling, it’s idiocracy. Plenty of games that have a marketplace that you can actually make money on, this isn’t one of them.
