2016 was a very uncertain campaign, even if people pretend it was obvious the entire time.

We had Bernie on the Dem side who looked like he could sneak it, Trump coming out of nowhere on the Rep side.

You can see it around Feb 2016 where money just stopped going into the stock market as both the primaries heated up, and it didn't go back in until elections were over after November.

Since the field is much less uncertain this time, I wouldn't count on it.

Historically speaking incumbent winning has been more bullish for markets but just buy a few percent

Election years typically are 2nd best year in the 4 year cycle
