just installed d2 and Lod after probably 15 years away.
imagine that, the keys worked.
However I am getting an error when i try to connect to bnet.
it says
battlenet is unable to recognize your version.
i tried to look on bnet and cannot find this specific issue with a patch>
any suggestions. I am sure this community has come across it before.

You can keep running it or download from an online installer on battlenet from a mod posting or from the discs.

it seems to recognize the version now but kicks me out immediately after that and tells me to reconnect.

has your game updated to the newest version (1.14d) already?

Uninstall
Reinstall as ADMINISTRATOR
EXIT GAME
RUN GAME AS ADMINSTRATOR, enter Battle Net as ADMINISTRATOR

Usually this works xD Do everything as admin, exit inbetween to be 100% sure u run as admin.
The program change name from install to diablo 2 or smt, so i always exit before i click play, just to run in admin again xD

Turns out that either my old account still exists somewhere on bnet and i dont know how to get into it. or someone stole my code keys.
that would be a real trick considering they were taped on the box packed in my basement for 15 years.. well poop

"it seems"? for easier help you might include screenshots or at least the error messages so people know where exactly you are stuck
same procedure as for every tech support

Download the Game from bnet web.
Will work 100%

Type in exactly what it says is the error on google, they have a patch in one of their responses to the issue. I have the same problem when I delete and reinstall the game monthly. Nothing anyone else above said will work.
