If you like Samurai type anime, you may like this one. The brief is a samurai does a challenge to gain an item of power to help him (and others) to complete a task.

This is the write up about it I suppose:

Onimusha
ONIMUSHA; Onimusha

The chief director of the ONIMUSHA anime, based on CAPCOM's famous Sengoku period game, is the well-known filmmaker Takashi Miike. The series is being created by the Sublimation animation studio, with Shinya Sugai as the director. The character of Miyamoto Musashi will be inspired by the late actor Toshiro Mifune and will be depicted as an older warrior who sets out on a quest to defeat the Genma using the renowned Oni Gauntlet during the early Edo era.

I think there are 6 or 8 episodes... Netflix puts them out in one set, not just 1 episode.

I haven't started watching it yet but I remember playing the games on PS2. What do you think of the animation? It's a bit weird to get used to the 3d-ish style in comparison to traditionally styled anime.

Well ... it is personal preference to be honest... I never played the game, so my point of view is based on the Anime itself. With that said, I wasn't impressed with the story, the animation and fight scenes were decent, however, it is just a basic "Samurai" type of Anime.

Hard to explain my point since I have watched a ton of programs (anime or not) about mystical arts for ninjas and samurai and so n so ... Hey... "The Last Samurai" movie was damn decent (not anime)... how about "47 Ronin" as another movie that was better than Ominusha ... and there are other anime's based around the history of "Unarmed" fighters fighting Samurai based on their technique.

I watched this and thought it was like the late 90s and early 2000s ... based around the PS2 I guess... dang... even Final Fantasy 7 for PS1 came out with better movies or animation programs than this... but that is just my opinion.

I think I am going to try it out. Don't really like CGI incorporated with anything that much, but it doesn't look horrendous. [Ex: Beserk after first season/2016/17]
