Did EPs always have the option to drop nothing? I thought they at least dropped one magical + item, even if it’s tier 1

Oh they can drop nothing. Have for a very long time.

Empty EPs happened. But recently, the frequency of empty EPs has been increasing.

Not really, it only takes a couple of minutes after each climb I just shove all drops in a vault category so it’s only a matter of checking how many of each I have in my vault.

I have used abilities and have had decent drop quantity and quality.

Been like this for years, even before the last 2 updates... they have a chance to drop 0 items, just like a normal monster.

The difference over say 10 years... EPs used to drop whites, now they don't ... this was a change. however, the Drop Quality increased. Previously you had to be at least 10 levels higher than the Drop Quality... e.g. level 55 character and you can only get maximum of level 45 item dropping from a monster. This also applied to Welling, however with welling now, the side drops can be 2 Tiers higher than your current level.

Nobody, not even you izParagonzi, can make me believe otherwise. Abilities on EP's 100% effects drops in a negative way.
