Who could possibly be new and attack someone for thier post count?

Yeah OP as others have said this site relies on trust. As such you really need to earn it from over here. Some random person can't come in and make a massive trade because some degree of trust is to be involved. If you dont have any, you've got to trust the person you're selling with. once you've been around and made some posts and some low trades, you work your way up.

I've been on this site since 2012, but haven't posted much. Made a decent amount of high trades (found a couple Jah runes around classic D2r launch) but even still (and this is my point) even still, i probably can't trade for something as high as a mirror because it has such inherant value and i still havent worked my way up to a trade like that. The bigger the trade, the more trust you need if you're the one taking the first "leap' in the trade transaction. Its just how the site works and it works pretty well.

I wouldn't haze him too much, I rarely use JSP and only for D2 so far, yet my account old as hell, few posts and replies...

theres a limit to how many mirrors can be traded in a day you go over this you get flagged and potentially banned.
