so my dogs are due for their shots soon, and my wife called and wanted to book them

the vet said that the dogs need flea and or flea/tick medication (not sure because i didn't talk to her yet) before bringing them into the building

the vet tried pushing this new stuff that will cost $450 for the 2 small dogs, for the year

so i am just wondering if any of you guys have ever heard of a vet having a policy like this. i am considering stopping going to this one, even though i have gone to her for the last 8 years

not a fan of having to spend this kind of money in order to bring dogs in for their normal vaccines

veterinarians are not your friend. they will try to upsale you on cemetery services right before your 19 year old cat gets his euthanasia shot. fuck every single one of them

you can get advantage off amazon far cheaper. if you must get your animals vaccinated/shotted up. go for rabies, distemper, etc the main ones. that's it. ignore every post card they send you and subscription service too

and your vet won't even look at the dog before you spend that much $? huge red flag. lmao what the fack. i've never heard of such buffoonery

find a different one to go to

i don't know all the details, i believe the 450 is broken down quarterly or something, but still

forcing me to buy the flea meds in order to bring the dogs in the building.... hmmm, sounds not unlike the whole covid vaccine scam

i've had pets all my life and been to numerous clinics (still have a dog). that's the first time i've ever heard of them requiring payment of some sort to see them. that's outrageous

$450 does seem high... Bravecto through petsmart is $40 for 1 dog for a 3 month supply. So for 2 dogs for the year that would be $320. We also get the chewable 12 week pills, not the spot treatment on the back of the neck which makes it more expensive.
Chewy is also a good source for meds as well.


I don't understand how the vet would require you to have your dogs up to date on their flea and tick if they need a prescription to buy most flea and tick meds...

Is it because if your dogs do have ticks, they can infect other animals? Not sure. But in my own experience, I never had to do that in order to bring my puppy to my vet's office.

How the fuck it's possibile that on Usa all things are so expensive and near to a scam? Fuck that, use bravecto and do yourself vax to your dogs.

Only thing I can think of is A. They be scamming you find somewhere else to go. Or B. They had a dog/cat with fleas or ticks and just trying to cover their asses ether way I would find new vet.
