MLD (Level 49) 1v1 25,000fg Tournament

I hosted various MLD tournaments in D2LOD. Noting the declining population in the game D2r (acknowledging the changes to FHR which fundamentally broke/took away alot of the enjoyment dueling) I thought it apt to present MLD as a viable alternative option for those still seeking to invest in PvP long term. MLD (along with DCL) dueling is as close to EP as you can get. EP was the historical dueling format on EU which was a highly competitve ruleset based around Faster Run Walk (i.e. teleport predominantly banned), No Mana Potions, and designed to make at least one build for each class viable, competitive and balanced. At MLD, each class had a build that won tournaments in D2LOD. In combination with FRW limits and a much higher Damage to Life Ratio, the FHR issue (and lazy play) is largely mitigated. Noting the prevalent issues regarding long rounds I have adopted a time limit for duels which will be strictly enforced. This format is not for everyone so if your idea is to spend an hour doing a FT1 or you do not subscribe to being Good Mannered, this is not for you, sorry.

With D4 Launch scheduled for June 6th, the plan is to Launch this event prior to this date, previsionally around 27th-28th May, ideally with smaller test events (with fg prizes) preceeding it. This event can be considered a concerted effort on my part to start the future of MLD events both in ladder (to seek new players) and nonladder (for the existing player base). This is NOT a one off tournament and neither is the prize pool a once off. As the community grows (both naturally and via investment in players / share accounts etc) more events will come on line. The plan is to host similar events like this (with equal or greater fg prize pools) in ladder, each ladder, and to host regular events in nonladder. These events will include a melee only bracket, 1v1, bespoke 1v1 for the teleporters, and (predominantly) team (2v2, 3v3 and 4v4) events.

This event will be based in EU (NA/Asia players can make the game in EU) and will be cast by D2 Arena (D2r Eu)
When does it start ?

This Tournament will begin the last weekend in May. It is likely to run over a period of time rather then a 1 day event. I envisage a single or multi group stage with a % of the player base advancing to a KO Phase. Therefore Players have 2 Months to Build and showcase their character, during which time we will fine tune the rules. If you do not compete with your character prior to this tournament you will not be allowed in.

The Main Builds for consideration

Bowa: https://maxroll.gg/d2/d2planner/3j0106cn In the D2LOD ruleset this was the strongest all round build. Had to nerf Multi and reduce Max Allowable Fire Resistance. Charger is Hard Counter. Expensive. Changes to the rules would be regarding FRW Limits.
Java: https://maxroll.gg/d2/d2planner/ti0106e6 Predominantly used in team duels. Without teleport it has serious issues against sorc's. The D2r damage increase is real. Changes to the Rules would be regarding FRW and Max Allowable Damage.
Barb: https://maxroll.gg/d2/d2planner/0001063g Benefits greatly from changes to Eth Throwing weapons (can also be used to ww) making it easier to beat Oath. Increased leap speed makes leap viable. Changes to the rules would be regarding FRW Limits.
Libby (Charge/Hammer): https://maxroll.gg/d2/d2planner/go01066z This build is much weaker then in D2LOD noting desync is greatly reduced. This is more of a Team Build then a 1v1 Build. Changes to the rules would be regarding FRW Limits.
V/T (Charge/Smite/Foh): https://maxroll.gg/d2/d2planner/9l0106nu This is the Meta 1v1 build for paladin in D2r at MLD 1v1 imo. With changes to FoH we had to nerf it further. Changes to the Rules would be regarding FRW Limits and FoH Damage.
PNB Nec: https://maxroll.gg/d2/d2planner/fy0106bc Massive damage boost on D2LOD where it had already won tournaments. A very good cheap and affordable build to be competitive. Changes to the Rules would be regarding FRW Limits.
Trapper: https://maxroll.gg/d2/d2planner/bw01060d Huge buff to damage, Dragon Flight and Resummon. Probably the best MLD build now. Changes to the Rules would be regarding FRW Limits and Light Trap Damage.
Bladesin: https://maxroll.gg/d2/d2planner/ro0106zy A new Build. yet to be determined how well it fares or what to do re : Rules
Windy: https://maxroll.gg/d2/d2planner/ch0106of Did not really feature in D2LOD therefore allowed to level to 65 to utilise teleport and make the Druid class relevant. Changes to Rules would be regarding FRW Limits, Max Damage allowable and Maxblock
Shaper: https://maxroll.gg/d2/d2planner/om0106pa Geat in melee only but ultimately this build is simply not good enough vs all due to the changes to screen size and desync. Every match won is a struggle. Changes to Rules would be regarding FRW Limits
ESFB: https://maxroll.gg/d2/d2planner/1w0106yx Very good all round character. historically lost vs Trapper. A very good all round choice but Trapper is hard counter.
Blizz (Orb Build): https://maxroll.gg/d2/d2planner/ui010683 Probably the safest build but also the most toxic. Enforcing a time limit rule is the only way to prevent ppl from being too lazy with it. Changes to Rules (max 1 point mastery) would be regarding max allowable Cold Stack and a skill point distribution cap.
Blizz (Spirit Build): https://maxroll.gg/d2/d2planner/k10106pe As above
Light Sorc (Lightning): https://maxroll.gg/d2/d2planner/u60106ha Auto loss vs a Trapper in D2LOD. No Changes to Rules envisaged other then exploring some way to balance that match up.
Light Sorc (Nova): https://maxroll.gg/d2/d2planner/ex0106l3 new build. yet to be determined.

To be clear Blizz sorc will need to be tested (we can do that in nonladder, there are several blizz sorcs there).
