Don't agree with what he tweeted, but he has every right to express his opinions. He works with the BBC on freelance, and shouldn't be held to the same impartiality expectations full time staff do.

apparently the "impartiality expectation" for their full time staff also just applies when it comes to criticising tory policy - when it's against labour, it doesn't seem to have any consequences whatsoever...

The fact that companies are able to enforce restrictions to their employees' freedom of speech, or punish them for whatever they say outside of their work place is outright orwellian.
