Democrats pretend that if we normalize it as a sexual ideation they will feel safe enough to get treatment and cut down on abuse.
Both wrong. reality imo is a pedophile is a broken human that can not really be fixed in most cases. if they abuse a child, prison for 20+ years, then chemical castration, and lifelong parole if they ever go near another child they're right back in prison. some people can't be fixed, thank goodness its a tiny % of the population.
I do think that the democratic lean in this topic is valid however, because democrats are the party of being accepting towards other cultures far more than republicans. and this person used their cultural practices as an actual argument against their guilt, and the community abided along cultural lines to get him a light sentence. Now a democratic governor is considering covering for him to avoid deportation. are we truly so polarized politically that even pedophiles are an unacceptable sacrifice on the altar of deportation?
I agree, i knew a guy in his 70's who was convicted for child abuse, did 2 years in prison then immediately reoffended within weeks of his release, last i heard he had broken a leg in prison and seems unlikely to be released before he dies.
