Argentina has repeatedly cheated, and even when they aren't cheating themselves FIFA is cheating on their behalf as in the case of the Egypt game this year.
But even if you say that's not real, there are enough verified cases of cheating beyond the hand of god. I mean Maradona admitted Argentina drugged opponents' water bottles with rohypnil... Peru agreed to throw a game that Argentina needed to win with +4 goal difference on the condition that Argentina tortured some Peruvian dissidents, etc.
Guy's career also ended when he was caught using PEDs. Consistent cheater on a team that consistently cheats.

Soccer has a very minimal following here,. doubt that will change much in the future. There is zero chance that we could fill a FIFA stadium without immigrants & foreign travelers coming here to watch the games.
Kids here grow up playing baseball/hockey/football/basketball. Soccer is a distant 5th choice. We'll never be the best at soccer because of this dynamic.
The NHL however is growing it's USA fan base exponentially, with youth hockey 100x more popular than it was 30 years ago.
That's all understood. But if people post that Maradona is a cheater while Trump just pulled the ultimate cheat in full view well you're asking for it.
Anyway tell me why Trump did this if no one cares about soccer in the US. Looks like he cares amiright
