saying my personal interpretation of Holy Scripture means nothing means I do not have the authority to invent dogma or arbitrarily twist holy tradition to fit my private biases. It does not mean human beings lack the capacity to observe historical facts.

we know Rome fell into heresy because they unilaterally altered the invariant Creed and asserted a novel papal supremacy that did not exist in the first millennium. They recognize developments to dogma such as Vatican II and novus ordo, the Eastern Orthodox church does not change.

you cannot use logic to critique the Church when your own worldview cannot even account for the existence of logic. your continuous dodging of justifying your worldview is always so tiresome and cowardly.

Modern 20th century eastern orthodoxy accepts contraception when historically it was seen as a grave sin and would never allow it. Your argument is invalid. Want to try again?

How do we know Roman Catholics are heretical and not Eastern Orthodoxy other than "just trust me bro"?
They claim authority as much as you do.

Remember your interpretation of the bible means nothing. So how are you able to determine who the correct authority is without interpretation?

you have no idea what oikonomia is or what dogma is. Christ [through moses] allowed for divorce due to the hardness of man's heart, this, like a pastoral allowance of contraception is oikonomia. it is a pastoral mercy, not a change of dogma. "sin" isn't some legal status breaking, it is a sickness and distance from God. When Christ gave His Apostles the authority to bind and loose it applies to this oikonomia, or ability to give patients the Doctor (Christ's) prescription.

how can you possibly say my argument is invalid without justifying logic you weaselly coward?

This is an excellent debate that points out major flaws in christian position. When they interpret the bible to mean whatever they like it to mean to the point where whatever you want it to mean.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fmOrpEPHX5I

what major flaws?
ya and thats the wrong way to interpret anything

ok finished viewing the vid
lot of things could be talked about but i am going to focus on one thing i insist on when talking to 'atheists.
a proper argument is scripture has to be cited. version/translation chapter and verse, then the argument. (practically never happens)

so aron ra is doing aron ra things ("ra" sun god so aron can have a mystical/magical name)
the guy he is talking to knows its trickery or its just baffeling, so he asks
10:10 Um, so what do you want to quote? Just go ahead and quote something for me. (he is asking for the scripture that aron is making claims about)

aron wont cite scripture. he then replies with load of disingenuous word trick gibberish 'atheist are so well known for
10:15 You have to you you the one let me let me phrase it a different way. You can be forgiven for any sin if you but believe.
10:24 But if you don't believe then it doesn't matter whether you're a good or bad person because the only sin that will not be forgiven is the sin of disbelief

then he references scripture you cant see
10:32 as according to the three quotes on my t-shirt.
later when you can see his shirt the scripture is back wards. (i dont care if its because of how the camera works. its back wards. its just the same old goofy 'atheist chit)(just cant make this chit up)
(aron shows the shirt at 20:47)

Because christian faith has undergone numerous changes fundumentally and practically. Are we to just ignore 7 councils which sat around the table and cherry picked verses and what they mean, their translations including how many books to adopt into cannon? Each decision invoked a change you are ignoring this.
Its interesting how these pastors "allowed" slavery pre 1865 and then all of a sudden they stopped. Your oikonomia is an excuse for your pastors to allow or deny fundamental differences while calling the Catholic authority as heretics for applying their allowances is hypocritical. When pastors allow for stoning of gays or child marriages under ecclesiastical law its no longer a law merely a suggestion to be applied by personal whims of the interpreter.

Without proof to back up your assertions we are left with your worthless opinions which yourself admitted are worthless.

Congrats

what about the seven ecumenical councils? is there an argument there? What were the changes exactly?

what about protestant "pastors" in the usa? is there an argument there?

I don't have "pastors", your incredulity of oikonomia isn't an argument.

what "proof" of what assertions?

what "pastors" are stoning gays in the Church?

you are completely spiraling, throwing out a bunch of irrelevant nonsense, and dodging any actual talk about the Church. you are still a coward who is utterly unable to defend your own worldview.

So your defense is to play dumb with me now?

You haven't demonstrated authority only appealed to faulty logic while pleading ignorance.
Council of nicea changed cannon for example fundumental nature of jesus. You stated how your religion didn't change yet when I pointed out that contraception, slavery, child marriage and how gays are dealt with are all changes within your framework changed you just asserted that they are merely allowances granted by authority.

If your laws are not held consistently throughout all time and by every bishops/pope/clergy then they are NOT laws they are merely suggestions. Remember your worldview is entirely dependent who is interpreting the scripture at any given time. That effectively renders scripture redundant only the interpretation of the appointed authority matters. Since you cannot provide any proof of this so called authority much less criticism of their interpretations your argument as good as void.

"Council of nicea changed cannon for example fundumental nature of jesus."

can you demonstrate this? What was the Church's stance before and after? What changed, be specific.

" I pointed out that contraception, slavery, child marriage and how gays are dealt with are all changes within your framework changed you just asserted that they are merely allowances granted by authority."

Where? What "pastors" in the USA dealing with slavery were Eastern Orthodox bishops? What are you talking about? Where did child marriage or how gays are dealt with change in the Church?

I explained what oikonomia is in the context of contraceptives and explained how it is not a dogmatic change like the filoque or vatican II, but somehow you are incapable of understanding this. I think it's an intelligence issue. It is a pastoral mercy, not that it's accepted as "good" in the same way Christ allows us to repent, it is a mercy to lead us to being healed not some courtroom legal mindset.

Can you tell me the difference between dogma and oikonomia?

"If your laws are not held consistently throughout all time and by every bishops/pope/clergy then they are NOT laws they are merely suggestions."
Which laws are changed? Are you speaking of dogma? which ones are changed and when?

"Remember your worldview is entirely dependent who is interpreting the scripture at any given time. That effectively renders scripture redundant only the interpretation of the appointed authority matters. Since you cannot provide any proof of this so called authority much less criticism of their interpretations your argument as good as void."

My worldview is not dependent on who is interpreting the scripture at any given time, why would that be the case? This is the protestant position, are you lost so quickly?

How would it be the case that if the Holy Spirit guides and protects the Church through heresies that arise (the reason for ecumenical councils to defend the faith once delivered to the apostles from the novel heretics occurred at all) it would make scripture redundant? Can you make an argument here?
Do you even know what the ecumenical councils are?

what do you mean by "proof of so called authority"?

Today's Word is from Zechariah 7:8-10

It reads,

Zechariah 7:8-10
King James Version
8 And the word of the Lord came unto Zechariah, saying,
9 Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, saying, Execute true judgment, and shew mercy and compassions every man to his brother:
10 And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart.

The Bible is the Word of God, written by God Himself given to us His children.

When we speak to one another, we communicate using words. Words contain contents, and when the content of those words is unfolded, we receive something from them. Then, those words move from the soul (mind) to the heart (spirit). Then our heart begins to work out the thing received through those words. We understand the speech of one another through our communication, have you considered how this marvel happens? It is absolutely a marvel for me and you to communicate at all, is it not? Yet, if I speak to somebody whose language I have not learned from soul to heart, I cannot understand their speech (unless God, who is Spirit, supernaturally intercedes), I am not able to fully receive the contents of what they are communicating from the heart (spirit) to the soul (mind). For example, I do not understand spanish, but those who speak spanish understand from the heart those things contained in the contents of the words they wish to communicate. When somebody who knows english and spanish begins to unfold the contents of the written word of spanish into english for me to receive an understanding of translation from spanish to english, a transaction begins to occur in the spirit (which I cannot see) that allows me to receive those things contained in the words being unfolded. I can now ponder in my heart (spirit) those things revealed to my soul (mind) through the contents of the Word.

God's Word is a Spiritual Word, the contents of the Word must go from soul (mind) to heart (spirit) and then we commune with Him who is Spirit, that is, God the Holy Spirit through Jesus. It is through the teachings of Jesus that we learn what true love is, what true life is, and those words must go from soul to heart to receive impartation from the Holy Spirit, and as we receive His Heart through faith, He begins to work on the contents and nature of our own hearts.
