You poured the Alcohol away as a conscious decision on your behalf, no Divine Intervention needed.
You fell on your knees and did a little prayer after that.
So maybe next time you tell this shitty somewhat redemption arc, fall on your knees first and pray to god, then rise and pour the Alcohol in the sink.
Would make for a better Story.
When you learn about Jesus, you learn about God the Father, and the heart if God.
God's very person, nature, and heart is love. He is merciful and just, giving all an opportunity to come to repentance and to receive Jesus Christ as Lord.
What Jesus did on the cross was a divine exchange. His righteousness for my transgressions, iniquity, and sicknesses. While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. He loved me and gave His own life for me, so that I could be redeemed, forgiven, washed clean, and healed. He is still healing people today, and setting people free from all manner of sicknesses and diseases, and from the enslavement of the devil.
I used to be addicted to drugs and pornography, and Jesus set me free from them. I started taking drugs as a child through conventional medical means, and through years of diagnoses and visitations from doctors, I ended up with access to all kinds of psychoactive pills to modulate my perception of reality day-to-day, and pornography which was a tremendous source of shame and guilt in my own life is something that came into my life as a teenager as well as I went through phases of isolation. I was placed in special ed as a child and spent years separated from mainstream education, and when I got out of school I was already on disability and continued to live on disability through my 20's. On paper, I was considered disabled from birth.
Today, I take no drugs, and have no pornography in my life. I work full time, pay my own rent, and earn enough money to give to the church and to those around me when they have need, and I am no longer considered disabled on paper. I also have a relationship with Jesus, who marvelously answers my prayers from time to time, and even speaks to me sometimes in prayer and when I'm reading scripture. I have felt and experienced His presence in my life, and He gives me strength. He led me to the truth, and set me free.
When the Bible says 'You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free,' we can now go to the words where Jesus declares, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life,' and so I know that knowing the truth means knowing Jesus, and Jesus set me free. He is the good shepherd who leaves the 99 who are not lost for the one who is lost, to rescue them. Some three years ago, I was homeless sleeping out of my car, working full time, gambling, taking drugs, addicted to porn, and following people who were teaching how to make money & get the things you 'want' out of life, without regard for what is good & true. I was meditating on stoicism, and mind you, I had a Bible in my car that I had started reading, and when I began to read from the book of Isaiah I knew immediately that it was the Word of God, not a book written by the knowledge and wisdom of man. I hit follow on my facebook in a stoicism post, and in around three minutes later, I saw these Words:
'So you decided to follow satan!,'
In that single moment of divine intervention (because that was a supernatural event: Psalm 18:16), I understood that God is Holy, that God is Just, that He sees me, that stoicism is from the devil, and that every teaching that does not agree with Jesus Christ is of satan and not God. I felt the fear of God for the first time in my life, and began praying fervently to seek and know the truth, who is Jesus Christ.
Psalm 18:16
King James Version
16 He sent from above, he took me, he drew me out of many waters.
There was nothing good in my life, I was not doing good, and I was not headed anywhere good.
I then learned of the plan of salvation, the perfect life Jesus lived and His sacrificial death on the cross to redeem me from my sins and to reconcile me to God the Father in true righteousness and holiness. I was lost, and He came to save me. I had believed in Jesus, but I was not following Jesus. I was following the world and the enemy, and the enemy was leading me to hell.
John 3:16-19
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
The Holy Spirit now lives in me, and sometimes He Himself speaks to me when I'm reading scripture or watching someone preach the Gospel. I remember this one night I was watching David Wilkerson preach, and I heard Him the Holy Spirit say 'Listen to him,' and I was ecstatic that God would speak to me and direct me.
God is very real, and present, and loves you tremendously, and wants a living relationship with you. Jesus is not a character in a book, He is the living truth who came to set us free from the devil.
