Today Tim Walz and Keith Ellison gave a formal pardon to a 42 illegal alien from Laos. He had been ordered removed from the country with a final order of deportation in 2006 after being convicted of repeatedly raping a 10 year old girl while himself an adult in the 2000s. Despite being imprisoned and released after his sentence, he remained illegally in Minnesota. Now under ICE's prioritization of illegal aliens with serious felonies, he was due for expedited deportation to be enforced this week. Walz and Ellison explicitly are attempting to scuttle that deportation by retroactively wiping out the 1st degree criminal sexual assault conviction under state law, so the serial pedophile can argue he is a law abiding alien with no record at immigration court. Though to their credit, on the same day the governor and AG did bother to reject a similar pardon request by another pedophile illegal alien, that one having participated in the violent gang rape of a minor.
So notably in this case despite being convicted of raping a 10 year old girl, Tou Vang had never served any time in prison in Minnesota either. The court records indicate the then-12 year old victim was pressured by her family not to testify, the community sabotaging the case so prosecutors felt compelled to offer a sweetheart plea deal where Vang was given 30 years probation with no prison. So despite the fact he never faced any consequences in the original sentence, Walz took the extra step of pardoning him retroactively so he can't be deported.

Should this be a trend for other democratic governors to follow? Pardon the pedophiles before Trump can deport them?

Why should repeatedly raping a 10 year old girl and then getting your insular community to threaten and coerce her into silence in an overt conspiracy be grounds to have an illegal alien imprisoned or deported? Trump promised to go after the worst of the worst and here he is trying to deport a guy who committed no crime at all with a completely clear record and who never spent a day in prison

also got that one line about him being imprisoned and released wrong in the OP nobody pointed out. I had assumed that was the case while writing and didn't go back and correct it while double checking and realizing that yeah he never spent a day in prison and his sentence of 30 years probation was never completed so he was still an felon pedophile on probation at the time of Walz pardoning him

Cant get much more of a sweetheart plea deal for a serial child rapist than to never spend a night behind bars AND the governor wipes your slate clean if the conviction would inconvenience you

Minnesota needs to significantly harden its pedo laws. For every known case like this, thousands more go unchecked.

Former Mayor Chris Swanson of Two Harbors had a similar background. Freak was 15 and raping children at his families daycare. Big difference his he comes from a multi generational established white family in the good ole boys club North of Duluth. Sealed as a juvenile record, yet he was probably months different than this Hmong Freak.
