Because he was lucky the guy on second tried to score. If the throw went to third instead of home he would have been out by a mile.

If it wasnt at home it would have been a double with an advance on the throw

But the runner did try to score and it wasn't even close.

Uh the runner trying to score is the reason why it's usually an advance on the throw.

I mean even the commentators admitted it was some home cooking.

If you hit an infield single with a guy on third and the guy on third runs home, you still get a single if you advanced to second because the infielder threw home.

I mean this is baseball 101.

He was past second before the "throw to home" and was running hard out of the box and never looked at the fielders throw.

Under MLB Rule 9.06, if the batter-runner intends to advance an extra base regardless of the throw, it is scored as a hit rather than a double plus an error/fielder's choice.

And it was very close lol

So if a batter intends to hit an inside the park home run, there will never be a fielders choice lol.
