To preface, I often keep an eye out here for new PBBGs that are gaining traction, and I noticed the other day that there are some sell threads for a new game called Idlemoor. Excited, I decide to try it out.

What I was welcomed with, was a 1 to 1 copy of Idle Hacking. Now of course, many idle mmos draw inspiration from each other. Idle Hacking is no different. I'm sure AI was even used to aid in the development of Idle Hacking. However, as others have pointed out, Idlemoor even had remnants of Idle Hacking vocabulary, such as "compile" inside the game.

I'm in software, and have observed some other blatant lazy AI indicators. Such as the colored border + matching gradients, it's the tell sign of AI currently with frontend. It's like the em dash. And again, I'm fine with AI assistance at this point, but not if it's so rushed/lazy that I feel like zero thought or care was put into it.

Then I noticed there's only a single buy thread, by a user who created their account literally 2 days ago and loaded up their account with fg for this specific purpose. Which aligns with the alleged game owner's intentions to try and gain traction here.

There are TONS of sell threads right now, with no one buying; perhaps the occasional retracted offer. I myself also made a sell thread with zero received interest.

Also think about it, if xtrading is encouraged, then why copy Idle Hacking's method with market linking which is highly inconvenient?

The game actively has a contest going for winning fg, so it's fairly blatant of their intent to force itself upon this forum.

If the slopped game garnered natural interest, then that's also fine. But what I don't appreciate is this forum being maliciously brigaded for financial gain.

Now, if you enjoy it; why should you care? I'm not telling you what you should care or not care about, I'm just poorly placing forward some disorganized observations (which made me feel strongly enough to make a thread about it).


P.S. I don't play these games exclusively for fg. I've been playing and supporting them for ages. I've chatted with most of the big devs personally over discord over the years. I respect quite a few of them.

Isaac is the dev, top player for combat rankings at the moment is Dof. Seems suspicious given the recent activity.

So I can't speak for the credibility of the game or dev, but I think that screenshot is taken a bit out of context.

Dofs statement does seem quite sus looking at that context tbh lol but he lowkey was just thinking of a way to promote the game. I havent known Dof too long either but he seems to be a pretty solid guy from the time I know him and in recent talks he has even told me he has considered quitting game... so take that for what you will.

Also isaacs response there did seem legit as he did say "you'd really have to want to buy/sell"

If it was something truly shady they could have kept it private.

I do hope the owner could just own up to copying a lot of the code from idle hacker if it is true though... and possibly compensate him somehow maybe with partial equity or show support in his game.

I personally play both and both games seem cool. A lot of idlemoor does seem to be a copy paste of idle hacker but there are some random events that pop up that i think adds a fresh approach to these idle games.

Sorry for the TLDR just didn't want things to be taken out of context or Dof to be seen in a bad light as he has just been a solid dude in game from what I can tell.

xtrade channel in game chat did have some chatter mostly from Dof overvaluing currency I think, only seen it briefly so unsure of timeline.

I made a very similar comment to this in the discord casually chatting with another player and got banned from the discord, and in game lol. I mentioned how there is now a lot of new stuff that differentiates it but before this launch it felt closer to a 1:1 copy, cited some evidence that it was copied that was presented by idlehacking dev regarding code mentioning duplicate terms, like masterwork being referred to as compile in the code, something you can see front end even in his own trailer video for steam: and how if it were copied, if he had just credited IH he probably wouldn't have got the angry mob response he did.

Got a reply in discord accusing me of spreading lies, and a wall of text related about him being tired of the accusations, how he had just spent 20 mins in game helping me by granting me 8 hours of offline progress that didn't occur when I logged off overnight and within 10 mins was banned from discord, his responses deleted (mine too of course), and banned in game lol. Was sad about missed xtrade/fg at first as I had 500m at the time of ban but aside from the one new account posting around briefly it doesn't seem like there's any interest anyway.

Anyway, careful mentioning your POV publicly if you don't want to be banned from the game because it aligns very close to mine lol.

I'll just correct you on Dof overvaluing as i recently saw him say in xtrade section 3b for .1fg/m lol so yeah... again just stating this cause my interaction with him has been pretty cool at least so far

The reply you got from discord was from Issac? And was this wall posted by Issac or others? Just trying to understand clearer as I have discord but dont use it often just to pm or chat with old gamer friends.

Yeah I was effected by that no progress bug also which he did fix but is quite alarming. And wait what so your ban was just very recently?

I appreciate heads up but Im not one to be afraid of such things and I have my own ways of getting "even" if I was banned for being honest and speaking my mind.

Also I wouldnt have said such things inside his discord lol. Although it is quite alarming how easily he bans members for such trivial things... I get he is frustrated by people badgering him, but jeez... Almost all Gamers are just too filled with pride to own their mistakes (myself included). He really should just own up and be accountable for what he did.

Correct, the reply was from Isaac. Wall of text was also from Isaac, publicly in the discord. It is gone now as he deleted it after banning me. If I hadn't read it real quick at the initial ping, I wouldn't have even seen it. The ban was Monday afternoon, I played after the game opened back up again around June 10th until then, so roughly 5 days. Played previously before it was taken down for a week or two as well before the wipe for the current launch. Had also paid for premium.

Don't really care to get even, just being vocal about the issue. The offline progress bug is kind of big, as an idle game implies you should be able to idle it to some degree lol. The bug is allegedly fixed now so I won't harp on it too much, but anyone not leaving the tab open in the first week was at a disadvantage. Fixes required you to remember windows of time it happened for him to confirm in the database and issue you the progress manually.

When you said Issac replied did you mean in dm's or was it a public reply.

Also how do you know wall of text was deleted after ban? (Deleting it was right thing as that type of energy isnt good for community building) Out of curiosity what did the wall of text say from Isaac

Haha the get even part wasnt intended at you but just what I'd do.. i can be pretty "petty" at times, but moreso am just a very strong-willed individual.

Yeah bugs are a serious issue especially ones of that nature but for me it also allows me to see how they address the concerns.

With at least 30+ instances of separate reports of any mentions ban of his theft of IH code leading to bans, he's banned more players than he has, what fucking community building?: P

With all seriousness I hope this behavior doesn't keep up. 30+ instance does seem a bit exaggerated though lol.

Also tbh d2j may not be a healthy playerbase for these type of games. As it can cause large fluctuations within ecosystems if not carefully balanced.
