Unfortunate, jury was lenient.
Should have never been able to see the sun again imo.
Oh well, he'll be someone's toy in prison prolly wish he was up for capital punishment and got that instead.

$600,000 donated through a gofundme for this murderer btw.
Family burned through it all, none of it went to his defense.

He was 17 when the event took place i believe. I think 35 years is plenty at his age. He will likely be a different person if and when he gets out. Hopefully he learns from this rather than join a gang and getting worse.

There was some outrage reported at the courthouse but I doubt we will see riots over this. Most people with atleast half a functioning brain can see this kid was guilty. Those who think hes not either dont have functioning brains or just want to turn this into another race issue for attention and to have a reason to act out.

Got off capital punishment by being a couple months away from being 18.
Still think it was lenient.
Defense entered crime of passion and it got denied too.

Was told to leave 15 times, not his teams tent. (literally 15 times)
Provoke victim to "touch him"
Victim shoves him lightly
Guy grabs a knife out of his track bag and stabs victim through their breast plate into their heart killing them.

Sub-human activity.
99 years imo.

Savanah Hernandez asked a Karmelo Anthony supporter a straightforward question:

If the evidence clearly showed he was not acting in self-defense, would they still stand with him?
The answer was blunt:

“No matter what, we gone stand with ours regardless.”

Unfortunately I think the ratio of people agreeing with this is 75/25, the rest would be called uncle toms.

It is due to hindsight that I wish that Karmelo Anthony had not been carrying a knife to a school football match. Karmelo's background is an honourable one. His decision to carry a knife to an environment where there are children and families is troubling. I do want to remind myself that weapons being carried by non-adults is not a foreign concept. Regardless of my thoughts, it is devastating to lose a child due to violence.

Im familiar with the happenings and agree it was a horrible thing to do, the kid went there looking for trouble and he found it, very immature of him. I dont think hes beyond all hope and think 35 years is plenty fair. The punishment is literally double the time of the age he was when he committed the murder and I think that is fair.

Lots of people, I myself being one of them. Carry a knife literally everywhere that doesn't have metal detectors. I dont wish he didn't have the knife, I wish je was more level headed and responsible I dont think in these situations its fair to blame the weapon of choice. And to call his background honorable also does not seem accurate the kid was 17 and likely hadn't done anything worth being considered honorable up to that point. I think he was a dumbass kid doing dumbass shit and hope that he takes his punishment and never re-offends in the future.

Fair would be life for life.
Not fair a convicted murderer gets to see his family again while the victim doesn't.

I understand your point and in a lot of cases I 100% agree. But this kid was not a career criminal he was a dumbass teen who didnt consider consequences of his actions. Had he been in and out of jail for other violent crimes I would be in total agreement with you. And lets be real here more than likely karmelo will not make it out of prison.

Just gonna agree to disagree.
I don't think there is anything you could say to make me come to that side.
We could say the same thing about not being a career criminal, literal clean slate, and no prior problems for many murder cases I suspect.
