Unfortunately, heralds still suck...

On the positive side, now it is no longer near impossible to complete the chronicle. It's significantly easier to get the sunder charms. To find all 6 variants at least once, you need 15 drops on average.

On the negative side, the heralds are useless for anything else. Some of them are much tankier than the game bosses, and they tend to reward you with only worthless blue stuff. I understand that their drop rates had to be adjusted to account for their increased spawn rate, but the nerf is just too much. Unless you are searching for sunders, it's probably better to just skip them.

All things considered heralds (and TZs in general) still provide a frustrating experience, but for a slightly different reason now. I'd prefer if heralds were relatively rare, but with boss-like drops. As things stand now, you are better off grinding Mephisto (or Andy) if you want to complete the Chronicle.


This seems to be the general sentiment. Idk how blizzard managed to screw up something that was supposed to be a simple fix.
All they had to do was tune down the drops a little to align them with bosses or superuniques.
Instead they launched a nuke to handle a barrel of fish.
They said that herald loot has been adjusted to superunique levels, but with the way TCs are assigned, the drops are mostly blue with a few yellows once in a while.
Hardly ever any uniques.
The only purpose heralds serve now is sunder chronicle completion. (And they're not even mandatory for that because any monster can drop sunders now.)
Beyond that, they're better off skipped in favor of bosses and champ/elite packs.

It's just Blizzard's incompetence really. No love for the game.

I enjoyed herald hunting last season. I'll let those memories keep me warm.

I get more uniques from random monsters during a terrorized full-game session than from heralds. This feels wrong, especially considering how annoyingly tanky those heralds can get.
I suspect the low drops are some kind of bug. They wanted to match the superuniques, but someone entered a wrong number somewhere. Hopefully they get enough feedback to notice this issue.

It's a feature of programming blindfolded.
They buffed magic/set item drop chance to superunique levels but rare/unique items are far below.
Now whether they'll ever fix this is anyone's guess.

ya tbh they really destroy what was a nice new mechanic to the game, i would imagine theyll adjust it but waiting 3 months for it seems kinda boring
