Native English speaker here.
I recall DARE and had the man, car, and dog visit my school.
I also say a word for other acronym things like PASS (point, aim, squeezed and sweep) and FAST (facial, arms, speech, time), etc.
That said, I do sometimes switch between H.V.A.C and H-Vac
I do enjoy the light side of JSP. Thank you.

Exactly. Those examples are acronyms that happen to be real words, too. Just as I described as the "Exceptions"
HVAC is also commonly called H-VAC. and that is because the acronym just happens to be capable of being pronounced phonetically.
I'd say those would be the only other types of exceptions aside from acronyms that make up real words.
If the acronyms also have consonant and vowel placements that result in something that vaguely RESEMBLES / SOUNDS like a word.
SOJ is just awkward if you try to pronounce it as a word, so I simply don't think too many people are doing that.
I do! 'A soge' is always what I say. Saying the full acronym vs one syllable
And things like jpeg, gif, I think it's the opposite where most people read it as a word instead of saying every letter.
I think you're a rare exception when it comes to pronouncing "SOJ" as a word and saying it as "SOGE"
But these little nuances and exceptions are just little things that contribute to my love of the language. It's so versatile and has so much possibility.
