no, its woke when it tries to regulate equality of outcome. no more ribbon for first place. theres alot of other issues with their games, but this is pretty glaring
im not talking about how they run their business. im talking about the virtual world they create which time and time again is mediocre at best.
Fair, I call it the 'will to equality' and it can be as toxic and problematic as inequality itself. This model benefits casual players and in return gives bliz more profits. They don't really make a game like d2 that is so good it retains its player base. They want to sell new stuff after people are bored with d4's mediocre endgame.
I've hated D4's system of monsters leveling with you and with group.
It is quite fundamental in our nature to desire competition of some sort. DOTA2, league, and similar games are so popular for this reason. Without differentiation or respect for the individualistic aspect of an RPG, the experience becomes mediocre
