I tried to bid on 2 different auctions tonight that had specific end times. On the first, I was outbid during the last minute and then couldn't put in another bid unless I edited it bc of the spam filter. The guy wouldn't accept my bid then basically implied that i was trying a scam. On the second one, I clearly won and about 2 mins after it should have ended a guy who had plenty of time to bid edited a 15 min old bid. I feel like this clearly is an attempted scam bc it was well after the end and clearly wasn't a result of being off by a few seconds. So the seller gave it to the other guy and wouldn't even allow me to match it. Is there a general etiquette on how these are handled? I haven't been involved in enough to know but it seems like a terrible way to run an auction and often pisses people off. It feels like if a seller is going to set an end time at a specific minute they should watch it as it closes or at least be respectful when they fuck it up.

Well in most auctions edited is not allowed

You just need to not be outbid on the last second it is really frequent
I get that you can be mad but game is game

Whatever your edit time

For the 2nd one idk maybe in this case the seller agrees with edit? It depends on the seller but usually for fairness seller does not agree with edit
But if he didnt stated otherwise maybe he means that he would agree anything

auctions should end at a precise time, and the best offer at this time should win right then and there.
editing a previous offer is BM since the other bidders may not see your edit.
accepting a later, higher offer is BM from the seller.

then again, BM doesn't get you banned. up to you to decide if you want to participate in a potentially frustrating auction. risk/reward and the works.

Either trader may cancel/decide not to trade for any reason, at any time, up until trade completion. A "bin" is not a binding contract with enforceable penalties.
While it may be considered poor-mannered, it is not a scam.

I feel like the seller was definitely being a douche selling to the other guy. It was pretty obvious that I put in a higher bid. At least I feel that way. Why would someone put in a lower bid after someone? It's a bad rhetorical question bc I see morons do that all the time. Anyway, he should have asked me about it. He pmd me and I was in the game. Then he sent pm saying he's selling to the other guy and immediately did it. Before I could say anything to him they were both saying t4t. I just don't get why people are such dongs these days

I suppose I should be more careful with the usage of the word "scam." I didn't get cheated out of anything. I'm kinda pissed off that I got called a scammer and then got screwed the opposite way to someone who clearly did it on purpose. Both of the guys had the chance to see what was going on and make a better decision.

So basically are u only allowed 1 bid that last minute? I've had the same thing happen several times where a few people are competing and all edit last minute and it hasn't been a problem.

The experienced ones will state very clearly:

Item for auction, start price, bid increment value, period of auction

Edited Bid (allow/not-allowed), bids WITHIN time wins, first or last post within stated time, etc etc

Sniping an auction is quite common, don't need to get upset over it

In jsp you can only comment once every 30 or 45 second, so basically yeah last minute is always about who got the biggest
Usually bid are going slow '100 - 105 - 120 - 130'.... until last minute where one guy will put a bid which can be twice the amount of previous bid -180-195-200-540-205-210'....

Since they put it on the last 30 seconds they are basically sure to win and people will fail to see this bid

But 99% of auction are forbidding the editing of comments
