Nope, it was a tossup between the Taintlock and Taintboiler
While I personally had been using the Taintboiler, I have to acknowledge that Taintlock already had traction on bnet so even if blood boil is one of your primary two damage sources, it doesn't even get into the name


It's fine bro. I get it. Lots of people like taint.

Edit: I would have gone with bloodlock, but I wouldn't want to anger the taintloving majority.

I really doubt this from the gameplay though. Theres some -50% resist on gear on that setup already, flickering flame would only make that -55%. Sunder, 3 facets, 1 defenders fire and mang songs. Tainted very clearly deal extremely reduced damage to fire immunes, which is consistent with them dealing their 36000ish damage vs 78% resist after sunder / conviction. If they were hitting vs 28% resist, they should be killing stuff like venom lords in just a few hits of their own, almost 3.5x the relative damage
Remember that skills.txt is often desynced with the actual mechanics, wouldn't be the first

You can see they definitely inherit sunder only when you have it equipped while summoning them, not retroactive. That may be the parameter they pull. If you summon them without sunder equipped they wont even damage venom lords at all


That'd make sense, but I still don't know why you wouldnt prefer Wrath + flickering + demon boots + SoJ as it compensate the fcr, the all res, and the +skills while being cheaper?

Well wrath is a fine prebuff item but I just shot some footage from P8 TZ96, I'm in the game for a half hour and only summoned 2x tainted in the whole time, prebuffing at the start. You're forfeiting +5 to blood boil to get that fcr/resists on shield slot, but then trading off 40 resists on boots to get +1 boil
So it makes sense to either play fast games where you don't prebuff, and use baalos as just a +2 tainted / +6 boil- or to play long games where you prebuff, and use wrath as a +4 tainted prebuff (or better yet, find a +5-6 tome), and keep baalos as +6 boil
In terms of fire resist, the real tradeoff you make without full godly charms/ammy/rings/boots for max resists is to sub flickering flame on your merc instead of cure. You're really just trading cleansing aura for +38 on resist fire (107 instead of 69 on tainted)
That's why on bnet I'm just bothering to use more 11 fire resist scs (not even lifer, just some plain ones), use a cure setup and still have 125 fcr, max fire/light resist and max damage.

Now I will say, there is a LOT of areas where you don't spawn immunes and its legitimately not worth casting blood boil at all, the fastest way to clear it is to just teleport around quaffing mana potions, and heck you could self-wield insight in those areas (and I'm killing P8 games in OHKO with 2x tainted, don't need the 3rd, so nothing lost by keeping up venom lord). Then it doesn't even matter what tome you have. But in the fire immune areas it definitely matters to have max blood boil damage, particularly the physical portion that comes from +skills only and mang song + baalos is 11 skills, obsession + wrath is 5 skills

don't have the godly inventory, don't even have the 3/20 circlet, heck I don't even have a +4 wrath for prebuffing (herp a derp I had a +4 bind demon one from this past season)

Given its a bunch of stone skin fire immunes, some of the worst case scenario, you can see how non-immune areas you don't have to do anything but teleport, while immunes still die reasonably fast
I don't have many comparison points but I can say that the nerflocks dicking around in tombs together didn't even clear 7 tombs+canyon in the time I did all of act 3 + act 5 solo

Blood boil was already pretty good last season. It was pretty safe (hc friendly).

Now you throw tainted that really hit hard on top of it.
With very basic gear it's great (resist gear everwhere).

If I would not be starting in classic I would play bloodboil tainted

51 tainted / 51 mastery, listing 28k but probably +1-2k from cta
missing 1 soj, no wraithstep (or strength anyway), don't have any better tome than ars baalos so just +2 (eh, I have a measured wrath in stash but its a +1 roll). And mang songs, not like I was gonna hunt down a dagger for +1
would be +4 pretty easily if I traded for those and respecced for some str
