Its important to keep in mind with the change to blood oath and bind demon, if you aren't getting as much benefit from +damage on a demon, and it doesn't attack often (venoms), then 1 point bind demon is all you need. You won't be able to get uniques/superuniques, but you can still get a holy freeze + cursed venom lord with 1 soft point and +19 skills from items. So just TZ96 cursed venom lord in p8 game, binding until you get a holy freeze. But eh, I got a P1 version and I haven't seen its life bar move a pixel yet from enemy attacks so P8 might be a bit overkill here

As P1 HC, I am interested to know your opinion on demon tree skill point allocations for a firelock, if and when a respec is imminent.

I am currently in purgatory with my glitched-in Hephasto, now with fanaticism of course. He still seems invincible P1.

should getting a demon even be bothered at this point tho? can just use hex magic es build or tainted boil... plus the damage and health of the demons atm isnt intended, so that will prolly be fixed.. and when fixed a 1 point demon for amp is gonna be squishy

well after testing the best setup with tainted boil is to have 2x summon tainted, 1x bound demon to provide amp, so you can kill fire immunes with amp damage + boil much faster than 3x tainted would do it
1 point demon for amp right now is effectively immortal, and probably will stay that way all season. If anything it seems like that's oddly the intended value, because they wrote blood oath to give 1500%+ max life, that it wasn't actually giving in 3.1

well if you're maxing tainted then 1x tainted would be sad. If you're putting 1 point tainted, no reason to summon it. The taint/bind build goes with 1 consume, 1 defiler, 1 bound demon
But that leads to the issues with the pure bind demon setup:
  • You either don't proc amp damage reliably vs small groups/single targets, or you sacrifice a huge amount of physical dps by having a demon that uses skills like venom lord inferno (and doesn't attack as much)
  • Your maximum dps / single target / boss killing is really mediocre, far lower than tainted and their bajillion damage fireballs
  • You can't even kill the few super high HP bosses without corpses (ubers, uber ancients, P8 baal, and some P8 heralds that are corpseless)


The taintlock has the advantage of astronomical amounts of fire damage, but its in a small aoe, slow between shots and extremely gimped vs immunes. Hence why I say you should do 2x tainted, 1x bind

vigor venom lord is great with 1pt demon. but sometime his big butt doesn't move.

maybe 1pt holy freeze tainted better if it doesn't run around before shoots.

Rankings are only for true pokemon trainers not 1 pointer echoing strike builds that just need aura.
When you've got high blood oath the HP/damage difference on Hephasto and a Goatman is mostly irrelevant, they are both unkillable and 95% dps comes from the skill, but A5 tundra goats run 50% faster
If you just need a lowbie aura bot then the base HP really does matter and you can go grind river of flame every time you die, you take that long walk of shame
Rogues with shields have blocking but that makes them worse because they have an animation that interrupts them, better to just take damage.
Any monster that uses an ability that does nothing or has a defensive AI is wasting time not attacking. At least Vile Mothers bring a permanent set of meat shields with them, unlike Shamans
All ranged attacks are totally worthless.

Even with an offline single-player grandfathered pre-3.2 'mon? If I have 1-point into bind demon on my pre-3.2 unique succubus, am I just going to lose the Multi-shot, Lightning Enchanted, Stone Skin affixes?

I haven't even started hunting yet, but will I be wasting my time? Is there no real value into trying to grandfather any of these in?
