Israel has currently detained members of this year's flotilla, including some Irish citizens. However, it is not *grabbing* global media attention. the regulars, the UK, Germany, the EU Commission are basically turning a blind eye or a tepid response (basically Israel can do w/e it wants - just dont go full Tropic Thunder please for your own sake. Nobody should ever go full Tropic Thunder. Israel appears to have a lot of options here and may keep these people detained for some time noting the international noise is not very loud. From a historical context however the likely scenario is they will be released some time over the next 2 weeks. For Ireland its a bit tricky noting the current relationship between Ireland and Israel is the lowest it has ever been since the creation of Israel. i.e. there are some unknowns here.
Israel's extremist police minister Ben-Gvir posted a video parading and humiliating the activists from the Gaza flotilla, and it is absolutely drawing a strong negative reaction across Europe today. Various European foreign ministries as well as the EU commission have blasted the video and/or summoned their respective Israeli ambassador. According to media reports, even Netanyahu and foreign minister Saar have chided Ben-Gvir .

https://x.com/itamarbengvir/status/2057046925417824697for the uninformed - the Amsterdam moment was when Israel's actions in Amsterdam almost led the Dutch Government's collapse, and when the Dutch Government woke up and realized that they had been attacked by the US and Israel (indirectly via media attack) they moved from a Pro Israeli position to an Anti Israeli position (else the government would have toppled under the weight of the mass protests happening in the country). England runs the risk of a similar incident occurring there, Germany not so much.
If Europe at large ever changes its stance toward Israel, Germany will be the last country to turn on them, for obvious reasons... ...
