That mindset pictures God as hiding the rules and waiting to punish people. Scripture paints a different picture. God is holy and takes sin seriously, but He is also merciful, patient, and actively reaching toward people with grace.

Here are some passages that directly correct that fear-based view.

John 3:16–17

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.”

2 Peter 3:9

“The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise... but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.”

Romans 5:8

“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Ephesians 2:8–9

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”

Micah 6:8

“He has told you, O man, what is good…”
Scripture repeatedly says God does reveal what He asks of people — love God, love others, walk humbly, pursue justice and mercy.

Matthew 22:37–40
Jesus summarized God’s commands clearly:

“Love the Lord your God…” and “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
“On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”

1 John 4:18

“There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear, for fear has to do with punishment…”

We have a loving God who loves unconditionally and we as his creation have the gift of free will. We can live our life how we choose. We were never meant to live apart from him.

Nothing in his post is even remotely connected to anything I said.

My post was about how it's frightening for a child to learn about hell and be told they could potentially go there. It's child abuse.

His post was entirely about scripture and how god loves unconditionally.

He posted a defence of his religion, not an admonishment of scaring children.

We have a loving God who loves unconditionally and we as his creation have the gift of free will.

“‘If a man also lie with mankind as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death: their blood shall be upon them."

Your scripture paints a different picture. I don't think your god loves unconditionally.

OR, does your god love the person as they are being put to death for committing an abomination?

I do not accept either claim automatically.

If a Christian says healed them, and a Hindu says or healed them, I treat both claims the same way: personal testimony alone is not sufficient proof.

So yes, I apply the same standard to all religions.

That does not mean all religions are equally true or false. It means anecdotal experiences, by themselves, are not enough to establish supernatural conclusions.

That is why the discussion about Christianity is not based solely on “someone felt better after praying,” but on the broader historical case for and the resurrection.

So to answer your question plainly: no, I do not accept Hindu miracle claims simply because someone reports them, and I do not accept Christian miracle claims solely on that basis either.

Then why are you discussing "someone felt better after praying" at all? Its waste of oxygen to be mentioning personal anecdotes and no proof to back them up.
Good you are finally being honest, eventually however you are going to have to lay your cards on the table, produce receipts and demonstrate with concrete proof. There is no way around it.

Christian cult has you convinced for the moment but if you are truly honest with yourself it will seize to have power over you.

Let me level with you. There is nothing wrong with following christ and his teachings if that is your thing. I have no beef with people who want to use him as a rolemodel or any fictional/non fictional rolemodel for that matter.
Just be honest about the magical part with me and yourself. There are no gods only men who pretend to be. You are basically an atheist yourself you already dont believe in 9999 gods. Just add one more to the list.

To be clear I am not asking you to stop using the bible for inspiration or some kind of guidebook to live your life by, just don't pretend its all true.

If you don't grasp prayer from a religious point of view try grasping it from a scientific kind of view instead.
Consider prayer like a placebo drug in science.
The strange thing about placebos is they can work on the mind in order to manifest outcomes.
The placebo itself is 'fake' or 'not true'. But the doctor prescribing it is who the people have faith in.
Ie: someone in higher position to help guide.

Prayer itself can be considered fake too. But you might be forgetting that in religion people are praying to a 'higher power' too. Just like the person taking the placebo views the doctor as.

No, she needed to not have pathetic adults scare her into believing she's going to be tortured by god.

There is still time for you to guide them in the right direction.

Here is where it gets really, really good. You see, it just so happens that I have a living, breathing, real life and most importantly, easily accessible Use Case of someone who was freed from alcohol after Christ entered their life. You can even read their testimony and ask them questions and find out all about it.

I think you might have heard of them. Their name is TiStuff. You can even read their Testimony right here:

Quote
Scripture describes your condition.

Faith simply means trust.

It used to be the 'atheists would boast and brag about abiogenesis/'evolution as the explanation for creation. the advancement of science we know now thats impossible.
o how you rage at the idea of a mind behind creation but some how you know better that say its 'evolution

Standing up from prayer and the feeling that came with being freed from alcohol. The biggest mystery is you actually believe you can compete with that.
A mighty faith in yourself, I agree with your definition of faith when its used in this context.

However, that being said, I would love to hear from your Hindu friend who had the same thing happen. I mean, if you are going to come up with a counter argument with a different real life example, surely you would be referring to someone you know and didn't totally make up right?

Surely you have your Hindu friend on speed dial and can get them here at a moments notice? First and foremost what is their name and how soon can you get them here?
