Bro
Morey's teams have reached the conference finals just 2 times in his 19 year career
Lmfao
I'm talking the moves he made, they made sense. Drafted well, made good trades most of the time, and made signings that made sense. The average casual fan doesn't even realize what he did, they just ride along hating him because now the team failed to advance again (when a week ago after beating Boston they were sucking his dick lol)
People love to knock him but he inherited a near impossible situation and managed to clean it up. Nobody thought he could move Horford and that horrendous contract, and he did. Nobody thought he could get Harden for Ben Simmons when he was holding out, and he did. He made moves to add key pieces like the Melton trade on draft night which turned out to be an amazing addition. Trading Caleb Martin for Grimes, adding Oubre, etc.
Hindsight is easy. Paul George was the most sought after FA in the league that offseason. Coming off the best shooting season of his career in LA where he was an All-Star. Several other teams, including the Warriors and Magic, were also willing to give him a max contract. PG fit a need perfectly on the team as well, and ultimately played great defense and shot 50% from 3pt (on over 6 attempts per game) in the playoffs while the two guys who were supposed to be the 1 and 2 on the team failed miserably in the second round.
Like I said, he was tasked with building a contender in Embiid's remaining years and for the most part didn't do a bad job at all. The McCain trade hurt his reputation big time, but that wouldn't have made much difference against the Knicks (Tik Tok boy would just get roasted on defense worse than anyone).
