Thanks for the detailed breakdown

Im aware of this but never applied on ladder playthrough bec the goal for pala is to get to chaos sanctuary asap and seal doesnt count for total elite packs anyway.

This is particularly most useful for sorc and barb with their usual farming areas. For hammerdin w enigma and nova sorc, the static path and density to chaos yields more loot vs optimizing other loc.

This is definitely used for current tz farm but next season regular mobs can spawn heralds

Very true! In terms of herald farming this wont have as much of an application in the coming patch. But its still great for maximizing elite hunting for that 99 grind, non-ROTW peeps will get the best benefit working with the normally rotating terror zones

Didn't know you were gonna update it! I bumped it so it wouldn't expire and be unbumpable. Its an important thread to keep alive imo.

I've tried to read this post like 5 times, but my eyes glaze over and my head gets really foggy about halfway through about the time I see the graphs every time... help

I'll convert the active table to a plain text thats friendlier for copy-paste into jsp, and easier on the contrast :)

Still haven't moved the whole guide from excel to sheets, but heres a little low-contrast preview.

How did you come to this conclusion? Did you RE the game and pull out the numbers?
What's the determination criteria in the best practices? Pure experience and statistical analysis?
How does the game "spawn" elites, is it on map load? Or player proximity to a tile?. Why do I consistently find an elite pack remaining north of trist when the entire thing is done then? Wouldn't superunique and the other guaranteed spawns have taken that slot?

On Evil urns, should you just pop 'em or avoid them early in the clear of a zone till saturation to avoid eating a slot of a specific area?

I'm a proponent of straight line farming, but in pairs imo. A pair of ppl traversing A3 river banks to Durance 2 as well as Frigid onwards (downwards to Dac since it's narrow there anyway, then skip the rest imo) in A5 are great examples - way more coverage. Lots of similar places without A1 style paths where elites spawn along the route anyway. I consistently get anywhere from 4 to 8 more heralds myself clearing obvious missed spots or half arsed straight lining. Might not seem worth it but at least I don't waste time with T1-T4 and I'm almost surprised when 2 or more acts are cleared and I spawn a T3 herald, obviously it wasn't cleared or the players had a specific goal in mind such as density for xp or act boss for statue.

Hey everyone, I'm here to share some findings with you.

The Science of EKPM: Saturation Glitching, Native Caps, and Optimal Bail Points

Following up on my one of my posts regarding the "Saturation Glitch," I’ve spent the last few days deep-diving into the spawning logic for every major farm zone in the game.
The goal was to map out hard-coded champion groups and TC85 density to provide a comprehensive Act 1–5 efficiency roadmap.

The Theory: Native Caps & Supersaturation
For those who missed the previous thread, most zones are governed by a Native Cap—a hard limit on how many random elite packs the engine can generate.
However, by utilizing specific pathing to force the game to roll random elites before rendering fixed Superuniques (e.g., Griswold) or Guaranteed Champion tiles (e.g., Tristram Center), you can achieve Supersaturation.

Example: By hugging the wall and clearing Tristram counter-clockwise, you can consistently force 6 packs to spawn, effectively doubling the ROI of a "casual" 3-pack run.

What’s New in this Version:
Act 2-5 Expansion: Full mapping of every high-yield zone from Stony Tomb and Ancient Tunnels to the Act 5 Red Portals (Abaddon/Acheron/Infernal Pit).

The "Bail Point" Meta: The biggest killer of EKPM (Elites Killed Per Minute) is the "Full Clear Trap." The last 1–2 packs in a zone are mathematically "trap packs"—the time spent hunting them in corners ruins your efficiency. I’ve added specific Bail Points for every zone so you know exactly when the ROI drops and it's time to reset.

Guaranteed Champion Mapping: Hard-coded spawns (Tristram Center, Frozen River guards, etc.) are now identified to serve as anchors for your pathing.

The Technical Legend: For the theory crafters, I’ve defined the internal mechanics including Saturation, Supersaturation, and Native Caps.

The Goal: Optimize the Grind
Efficiency isn't just about how fast you kill; it's about how many bosses you see per hour. This table is built to help you hit high-density clusters and bail the second your efficiency peaks. Whether you're running a Pit-Zerker or a 200 FCR Blizzard Sorc, following these pathing/bail rules will result in more bases and HRs over time.

TL;DR: Spawning Superuniques last pushes packs above the cap. Stop full clearing; use the Bail Points.

I'm always looking for more numbers—if you notice any pack count variances or weird spawn clusters during your runs, drop the data in the comments below, I'm constantly updating the table. Happy Horking.
