I just read the post by a D2R dev talking about ideas he would like to see in the game. So I got to thinking about an idea of my own that focuses more on the PvP community rather than the usual PvM changes that we see.

https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/d2r/t/the-future-of-diablo-2/175932PvP has always been an important part of the community, and I wanted to share a few ideas that could help support both casual and competitive PvP players without negatively impacting the rest of the game.
One idea would be to add dedicated PvP settings in the “Create Game” menu. These settings could allow players to choose formats such as Expansion or RotW rulesets. For example:
* If “Expansion” is selected, RotW-exclusive items could automatically become inactive or unequippable within that game.
* New sunders or restricted items could remain in the inventory but be disabled while inside that PvP game.
An even better solution would be a fully customizable PvP ruleset system. When creating a PvP game, players could choose which items, skills, or mechanics are allowed or restricted. This would make it much easier for different PvP leagues and communities to create and maintain their own formats without relying on honor rules alone.
Examples of customizable options:
* Allow/disallow specific items
* Allow/disallow specific skills
* Unique-only, Rare-only, or Magic-only item formats
* Expansion-only or Classic-only restrictions
* Toggle specific mechanics on/off
To make these games easier to identify, PvP-enabled games could automatically receive a “PvP” tag in the lobby. A game filter for PvP would also be a huge quality-of-life improvement, allowing players to quickly find PvP games or avoid them if they prefer PvE.
One major concern within the PvP community is that future class balance changes could unintentionally damage what already makes PvP enjoyable and competitive today. Many players would prefer PvP-specific options and formats rather than sweeping gameplay changes that affect the entire game.
Lastly, one thing many longtime PvP players would love to see return is WSG.
PvP has kept a dedicated part of the community active for years, and giving players better tools to organize and support their own formats would go a long way toward preserving and growing that community.
Would this be something that you would like to see implemented?
