"just play whatever you like" at its finest. You're forced varlamore karamja at start. I picked mortanya for tob and kourend for yama. I wanted an overpowerd easy build with infinite survivability to practice the annoying sweaty bosses that I die at in the main game.
I was told to pick mage at start, fast healing, then go thorns build.
I can't stress enough how insanely WEAK I was.
Obviously, barrows armor would've been a big upgrade, but 50 kc barrows, not even 1 armor piece, I quit. I don't come on leagues to "grind". It's a VERY temporary mode where your "progress" immediately gets deleted.
I had the same problem the previous league with grinding BARROWS and mage arena.
Also I heard picking elf land tyrawin is a no brainer because "muh flat 30% boost all attack styles"??? I already grinded 1500 cg kc on an iron and on gim iron I'd have to grind who knows how many more. Again, I don't come on leagues to grind.
You should go in 1 time, every kc drops a unique, move on. NO GRINDING.
And the builds are EXTREMELY WEAK. Plus even before I started, I took one single look at that gigantic tree that you can only reset like 3 times. To me, limited resets means no reset. It's a TEMPORARY game mode, why should I spend hours researching, reading, learning, only for a "woops I picked fire build and I had no idea I do SO little damage to enemies while I get damaged 5 hp every single attack regardless if I hit. But... hespori is 100% vulnerable to fire. Died a LOT of times to hespori, got like 25 kc, no drop.
No surprise considering the theme was YAMA... an irritating grindy sweaty boss. If you're gonna "grind and sweat", at least do it on the main game where your progress will at least stay with you for the next 5-10 years not 5-10 weeks.
Or better, "grind and sweat" in real life where it actually makes a difference. I got a job. I "grind and sweat" already at my job. I come on a game to relax. I think jagex has an echo chamber of streamers and youtubers who play runescape as a job and humblebrag about their "achievements" where they grind and sweat, so they obtain a false sense that "this is what the players want".
Previous 2 leagues were a lot easier and less grindy. If I "picked the wrong build" well you can't tell me the bullshit "just pick whatever you like". I heard you HAVE to pick wildy if you go ranged. And jagex still didn't fix the issue that despite being a pvm event, people can still pk you in wildy. You know, just to ruin the fun. I don't get that. It's like someone randoly shutting down your pc while you play. Is that "fun"? Not like the pkers gain any items, everyone's ironman.
To fix this, I'd say just keep leagues permanent mode. I mean maybe in this period you are busy but maybe in december you got free time? Why do we have to change our real life plans to revolve around a video game? At least that would partially fix the "grindy" aspect. But all regions should be unlocked and infinite resets including for relics. This "hope you picked the correct decision!" garbage is pretty anti-runescape and bad. If you want to experience the game in some other raid with a different build, you gotta start all over again. More grinding, more hundreds of menial tasks...
I'd say don't play it until jagex finally gets the message. They probably won't though.
