In Canada, several provinces are permitting up to 3 chickens to be raised for eggs and/or as food per household in suburban and, in some cases, city areas. I wish that we had a private backyard. We'd love to have three chickens for the eggs and just cause they are wonderful creatures. Our backyard is open and it is shared with a lot of households and their pets. So, no raising chickens for us.

I raised meat chickens for a few years and had around 30 egg layers 2017-2024 theyve all died offand i never bothered getting more, i should though.

They are wonderful creatures. I love how the rooster will get in-between a predatory animal and the hens and chicks. It literally sacrifices itself for the safety of others. Same goes for dogs and donkeys. They protect.
