I am using death runeword in decapitator. But, I realize that since I am also using metamorphosis and fortitude I have not socketed anything with a protector's stone

Should I just accept that? Or, if you include the protector's stone in your calculations is there a better weapon to use than death decapitator?

What have you guys decided on in rotw? I don't think swapping metamorphosis or fortitude is a good option (but open to that as well)

I suppose an obvious alternative is Eth 3 soc tomb reaver with a Zod, protector's stone and %ED / IAS jewel (though I'm not sure you'd need more ias). Are there other options people have used (a different unique weapon for example socketed with protectors stone). Is the alternative even sufficiently superior to death decapitator to justify all the trouble?

Curious on people's thoughts

Also, note that I play HC so value vitality so I don't necessarily want to pump 260 into strength to use a unique thunder maul

But yes, that's the question (filling the end of that sentence), specifically in reign of the warlock if factoring in the possibility of utilizing the unused protector's stone

Ebotdz + SS w/ your stone? You’d get a lot of leech and you’ll get dr and res from SS and you can use your protector stone

Oh and even on hardcore with Lycan and Bo you’ll hit over 4k easily, can definitely toss points into strength for more dmg

Grief + ss I think better than ebotd. But a problem is on SS you don't get the ED (I think just the + to max dmg). Also, with a 15% verdungos or string of ears with metamorphosis you hit 35% dr with Mark of the bear. So you only gain 15% dr from stormshield so it's a bit redundant

End game imo therefore not thar great since putting a Protector's stone in a shield isn't optimal and the dr from stormshield is mostly not needed

Ahh you're right. Tomb reaver my bad. Reapers socks for the stone imo since for the dps to be anywhere near on par with death runeword in decapitator it has to be eth and Zod'ed (so no spot for the stone? Eth reapers zod is superior to non eth with stone..)
