And if we then get assisted suicide as a systematized part of society, well, then it is the ultimate way to degrade the human soul into pure utility, i.e., we become more worthless.

I suppose this could be a real risk if it becomes even more "normalized" I generally feel like people should have freedom to do what they wish with their own body, but with current state of the world, im not so sure.
If you're not useful (maybe you're too sick, too old, too sad, or cost too much money), then... poof. The "fix" is to disappear and that probably wouldnt be good.

With the proper guardrails, MAID and other organizations which offer options for end of life care are priceless options.

We're quite ahead on MAID in all of the provinces. Yet, with a caveat: A worry that I think many people have is how it is now being involved in mental health cases. I can imagine that there may be examples of a mental health issue which may be so severe as to be unmanageable. If enough physicians and patient advocates are involved in the process then I am good with the patient and/or family having access to that for a severe mental health issue. Again, the last thing a civilization needs is euthanasia due to how governments wish to run a country. But, I am passionately for MAID for at least two groups, those with unmanageable and incurable life threating illnesses and the elderly who wish to choose their time to go rather than be placed in what is a system that tries to keep them alive for profit.

idk, im just looking for opinions on the subject
I was reading about Dr Death AKA Dr Kevorkian and his story dont see why it wouldnt be legal.
I guess because of pain, possibly not doing something right, people not having the willpower to "pull the trigger", easier cleanup, less traumatic for those that have to deal with your corpse.

That is a good question. From what I have observed in my circle of elderly clients, people appear to be making plans either on their own, with family, and/or with their friends while they are in their sixties through seventies for what to do in their eighties and nineties, in some rarer cases, for when they reach their early hundreds. They wish to know that if they may lose their cognitive faculties or be in a state of health where suffering is all that they are experiencing, that their plans are there and ready for them. I think the label elderly is more of an umbrella term and that everyone has their own idea of where that is for them.

Did all the prerequisites for nursing in Vancouver, but life thingies happened and lost my place in the college I had been accepted to list. While in Victoria, BC, trained to work with clients with ALS/Lou Gehrig's disease and an elderly clientele. Have been doing that for over 25 years now, but have winnowed down to just a small handful of clients on an on-call basis. I am drained and need to just be silly for this time in my little life.
