Should be a more widespread thing, early in school too, but perhaps as mini-karts (like mario kart).. great way to build respect for speed and just general driving experience. Not having any when setting foot on a pedal at 16-18, it can make a mess with all the stigmatization and pressure. As important as driving skills is today, it should be an integrated part of school education, or just be part of something one can do at spare time for reduced price, maybe in conjunction with the school system or something.
I'm basically for a school system, but it should be less of a forced thing. It should be semi-forced. There should be testing and such, but one should be more allowed to show up if one wants to or not, without being punished. If things are "free-er" (friere, in norwegian), people builds more trust in the process, working harder at it. The more force that is used, the weaker the bond of genuine loyality is.
your right, all the posts by mentally derranged drug addicts on the verge of homelessness and suicide are much more entertaining.
