Fire sorc is pretty easily the best sorc now when fully slotted out
Blizzard is better for weak gear setups and doing shit farming, I mean you can grind trav with a nearly naked sorc

BiS fire sorc really gets to choose between 10x facets or 2x phoenix or a mix. Giving +50/30/0% fire, -50/58/56% pierce, and 0/80/99.2% chance of 0/95/170 life+mana redeemed per corpse (ev 0/76/169 per corpse per tick)
so in total;

phoenix sword (or 30/30)
phoenix shield (or 20/20)
ormus or vipermagi (defender's fire)
3/20/2 circlet or flickering flame
+2 sorc / 15+ fcr crafted ammy
magefist
soj+opalvein or 2x opalvein
arachs
resist boots
cta/spirit swap
merc with infinity cure coh

Now you can also use a 3/20/2 circlet with 2x facet, and ormus + 1 soj, and probably need flickering flame on merc to compensate your list fire resist.
There's some tradeoffs for QoL features here, going all-in on damage. To list a few permutations:

2x phoenix with viper/2x opal/ff = 16136 fb / 3934 hydra with -91% pierce, with 2x 30 redemption aura, cleansing aura, 42 sorb + 90f/80l res
2x phoenix with ormus/soj+opal/magus = 18609 fb / 4120 hydra with -86% pierce, with 2x 30 redemption aura, 42 sorb + 85f/80l res (no cleansing) <--- recommended imo
30/30 sword + phoenix with viper/2x opal/ff = 17281 fb / 4213 hydra with -93% pierce, with 1x 15 redemption aura, cleansing aura, 21 sorb + 90f/80l res
30/30 sword + phoenix with ormus/soj+opal/magus = 19869 fb / 4399 hydra with -88% pierce, with 1x 15 redemption aura, 21 sorb + 85f/80l (no cleansing) <--- or this one good too
50/50 facets + viper/2x opal/ff = 18044 fb / 4399 hydra with -85% pierce, cleansing aura and 80f/75l res (no redemption or sorb)
50/50 facets + ormus/soj+opal/magus = 20709 fb / 4585 hydra with -80% pierce, 75f/75l res (no redemption or cleansing aura, no sorb, no max res)

The 30/30 sword and ormus setup gives the most damage while still keeping high pierce and 1x redemption aura and some resists/orb, the 20/20 facet shield is impractical because the 4% more damage not whatsoever worth the lost -8% pierce and other benefits.
But you only lose about -6% overall damage and -2% pierce to go up to 2x phoenix and have that double redemption aura / double sorb. But using flickering flame/viper means losing a big chunk of damage, you're down -19% from the 30/30+ormus setup, or -13% from the 2x phoenix+ormus setup.

I will say from experience having a fire sunder build that needs the +fire resist from merc flickering flame puts you in jeopardy against fire damage heralds. One of my only deaths on warlock was to a pack of flame mages in abaddon when they killed my merc, which removes resist fire aura, then chunked me for 4000 hp instantly because I was at negative fire resist. The ormus build can still hit max fire/light/poison resists (probably not at same time as cold, but it doesn't matter) but you do take more poison dps with no PLR/cleansing and have a risk to fire if merc dies

im going to test this build next after my necro.

Hydra/Chant

+20 Warmth, Fireball, Fire mastery, Hydra, Enchant
+1 tele
remaining skills into fire bolt for hydras silly 3% synergy.

While the hydra synergies are extremely low, Hydra itself is no longer restricted to a cast delay like blizzard and frozen orb.
All Hydras can be casted as fast as the fcr breakpoint you have.

Since the synergy is extremely low, Im going to put 20 points into enchant instead of fire bolt since we are already maxing out warmth and fire mastery.. this means enchant will be fully synergized granting 2k fire dmg to merc and party members.

I will be testing this as soon as I finish my video with my necro build.

This is basically what I do with my enchantress. I run an enchantress to buff my main, because why not, but I also use it to do rushes and things. Max enchant/warmth/FM to satisfy the primary goal of adding almost 10k to each attack of a merc/main character, and then max hydra and then the synergies to do things like rush characters/farm when off my main account. Hydras do more than enough damage in these scenarios, or you can throw a demon machine/brand on him and do it that way instead.

3 fire/30 frw circlet with +10/-6-10 (frw is amazing when on an alt account for moving through town)
3 fire amulet
enchant ormus with defender's fire +10/-5-10
arach
magefist
soj
sling (no tome of tp/using belt slots so I can get another GC in the inventory)
infernostride (makes up some missing fire res)
obsession (+3 enchant, if you can get FM there too go for it)
renewed flame rift with frw
inventory of plain fire skillers, or fire/frw is nice too

Wow, I just tried this on single player, I'll have to load up the PTR and see what Terror Zones are like with the new changes. See if I can kill some T5 tz96 heralds.
I guess if I struggle, I could try to use Kelpie snare on the merc, right?
This is huge QOL with Holy Freeze Aura + Redemption. Staying at 100% HP and mana

Looks like
Sundered Fire Immunes = Base 95 Res
-30 wep, -15 helm, -10 chest, -28 Shield, -17 convic = -100 EFR so fire immunes are at -5% is that right?

From what I am remembering about eschutas, is that fire skill% damage only increases the % on top of what fire mastery already does, so it's not that important, right?

Where as fire damage % is probably much more important for fire warlock or driud for example.

I am wondering if this is going to outshine Nova sorc for herald killing and TZ farming
I could use a Kelpie Snare on the merc as well, right?

Oh it easily outshines nova sorc at clearing uniques and heralds and TZ in general, nova is only better at density clearing trash mobs.
Don't imagine kelpie snare as a real option, I mean % slow to single targets is mostly irrelevant here, the one mob that can threaten you is heralds and they come with 15 total monsters so aoe is necessary, conviction is obviously best but if you can't get it, options like insight exist

Using holy freeze aura means you lose about 20% of the value of redemption aura since you'll shatter 20% of corpses. Its a tradeoff you can make if you value it
personally I found the best setup is to put 1 point into frost nova + cold mastery + cold armor (have only 19 hydra at level 99), and you can use frost nova against heralds while not chilling normal mobs or uniques since they die faster if they group faster
You're missing the -10% pierce from a renewed flame rift in your example, the most you can get is that setup with -93% pierce on gear and -17% conviction for -110% total, so yes an immune is put at -15% resist
But that build also has lower base damage

In fact its really easy to just go through the example damage/pierce I listed and say how much they deal to immune vs non-immune mobs. Same order as above of the {2x phoenix} vs {30/30 + phoenix} vs {30/30 + 20/20} and the viper vs ormus tradeoff for higher damage vs pierce/cleansing
Counting each example with the -17% from conviction provided, since that applies to most immunes though it will die to some heralds, and assuming all builds get non-immunes to -100% resist
2x penix + viper : 18234 v immune, 32272 v non
2x penix + ormus : 20098 v immune, 37218 v non
1x penix + viper : 19873 v immune, 34562 v non
1x penix + ormus : 21856 v immune, 39738 v non
10x facet + viper : 19307 v immune, 36088 v non
10x facet + ormus : 21123 v immune, 41418 v non

You can see the damage range here, ~80-100% of max possible damage range depending on setup and target with the tradeoffs for the redemption aura / resists / sorb / cleansing / etc. The 2x phoenix+ormus setup has ~90% of the damage of a glass build but gets 2x redemption/sorb/resists, just not cleansing.
