Worked at a new house, there was a concrete balcony, underneath was a passway with pillars. Windy and rainy day, we were supposed to be laying bricks around these pillars that day. He never switched days i.e. to fit the weather, just get on with it. So we had to makeshift and fasten tarps to the concrete railing to provide cover. Inadvertantly he tasked me with that and disappeared, idk why, i never done that before. He showed me though, huge screw clamps, like 20 kg heavy, fasten to the edge of the concrete balcony with the tarp in between, and hammer the adjustment rod properly. So i did. I was 100% certain it was fastened properly, i used excessive force and couldn't move them (3 of them)
We went to break, he came back. We started work on bricks. Occasionally he walked to check on something through the passageway, idk what or why. Suddenly one of those huge-ass screw jacks fell down 1 second after he passed under the passageway. Lol i was mortified.
I was still an apprentice then. I guess i would get the blame for it. But 1) He COULD and SHOULD have thought about it himself, not to fasten that thing above the passageway door. And 2) He could and should have thought that the wind, slamming and dragging the tarps over time, would loosen the screw jacks. And 3) It is very normal to shift work around windy and rainy days, to to indoor work on such days and outdoor work when the weather is nice. Just because he is a leo and his pride wouldn't let him.
His stubbornness and my inexperience could have resulted in his death, or a least severe head injury. He didn't chew me out or anything, but i noticed he was pissed as hell ^^ He probably realized it was at least partly his own fault.
Only time something like that happened though. And we worked on some pretty sketchy jobs.
So what do you think about that huh?
