https://www.worldometers.info/world-population/state-of-palestine-population/https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/gaza-population-down-by-6-since-start-war-palestinian-statistics-bureau-2025-01-01/Gaza makes up almost half of the population of Palestine, so if the overall growth in Palestine is back at +100k / year, basically the same rate it was before the war, it is mathematically impossible for the population of Gaza to have shrunk noticeably in 2025 and 2026. The reuters article cites the Palestinian authorities themselves claiming that Gaza lost some 6% of its population from Oct 2023 through the end of 2024, i.e. the hottest phase of the war. At a 2.5% natural yearly growth rate, they will roughly have made up the population loss by now. And even if they haven't fully today, they will definitely have made it up by the end of 2026.
Simply put, a one-time 6% population loss (according to Palestinian authorities!), with half of it coming from displacement rather than casualties, does not clear the threshold to be considered genocide.
The 6% includes 150,000 that flee.
The legal term “genocide” refers to certain acts committed with the intent to destroy,
in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group.
When you slaugher 20.000+ kids the "in part" is very much in play.
The ethnic cleansing, the displacments, the complete destructions of 34 out of 36 hospitals, all the schools and universities ect ect ect
Most, genocide scholars including israeli ones, say it's genocide. So there's no argument left to had on this front. It's not a debate just like you won't debate that 2 + 2 is 4.. You could have clinged on to the fact that it was hamas authorities casualties and they cannot be trusted but israel has admitted to them being accurate.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attacks_on_health_facilities_during_the_Gaza_warWhat israel is doing is beyond reprehensible it's unforgiving and sanctions must be placed on the country to force the government to abdicate.
