Lol mid range shots were never bad shots. That's just a narrative. Good shots are good shots. If the middle is open you take it. If thats a high % shot for elite mid range shooters like Embiid, KD, etc who have super high release points and easily shoot over guys then thats a good shot.

Embiid has been unstoppable from mid for years now. He always displayed good shooting touch early on, but relied more on scoring on the block. Problem was thats easy to double, so he worked on the mid range and became one of the best mid range shooters and most efficient scorers in the league and then became the best scorer in the NBA. But sure, tell us more about how Embiid should look to score genius basketball guru lol

Its not narrative its math. Its literally Points per attempt. Highest ratio is 3pts and near the net + ft. This isnt something you can agrue.

Literally mid range shot is the worst(old school basketball). And C's typically still on a larger scale have the worst 3pt% of all positions. I get its changing and more n more C's shoot 3s, especially if their open but only unicorns are taking 5 6 7 3s a game.

Embiid's 3pt % is down in recent seasons but hes still a capable outside shooter who defenses have to respect. You can't just completely leave him. He has been a unicorn 3-level scorer which is what has made him so dominant at his size. Hence the multiple scoring titles...

If a guy is only taking threes or driving he becomes predictable and easier to defend. But you wouldn't understand that because you think everyone can just shoot two levels cuz math 🙃

An effective mid range shot is what make good players into great players, especially in the playoffs. As an example, Jokic/Murray helped Denver win their title because they could both bury mid range shots.

If a team is selling out to protect the rim and the three point line, mid range shots suddenly become way more valuable
