I have never cheated. Been in open relationships where I discovered that they are not for me. I support others that do have open/nonmonogamous relationships. But, I do not function well when my little heart is split and focusing on more than one love. Some relationships have also something called a "hallway pass", as an example: If you are ever at a party or gathering where you meet your hollywood or sports or other famous crush, you are allowed to be intimate together for that one time, if intimacy were to happen.
