Surprised you'd say that, I thought Bernie was the champion of the Democratic socialist party movement. Pushing a platform with aspects offsetting a lot of the line outside of the triangle imagery you post.

I do think if a populist like Ron Paul or Bernie got in they would unexpectedly perish.

The uniparty would just have stonewalled and grinded him down, basically sat out his presidency while trying to deflect as much of the blame for the financial crisis as possible on him. They would have used Ron Paul as a lightning rod to distract from the fact that this huge recession was, in fact, a systemic failure of the neoliberal deregulation project.

In the long run, Obama having to own the bailouts and the sluggish recovery was for the better.
