Batting average is kinda irrelevant these days though. Well, not irrelevant but far down the list of ways to tell how well a good is producing offensively. Schwarber hit .240 last season and was one of the absolute elite hitters in all of MLB (hence the 2nd place MVP finish as a DH). There's a lot more that goes into it and nothing about Bader's career, at 31 years old, stands out as a guy that is moving the needle or producing at a high level. Last season only 7 guys hit .300 in all of MLB, which was the fewest ever tied with 2024 lol.
Great vibes guy, sure. But they aren't missing anything. Him and Casty both suck for their new teams.
Good thing that's a regular season reward. Over 162 games, I'll take a bopper like shwarber all day. But in limited games against significantly better pitching on the playoffs, I want guys who can sting together hits.
Hrs are much harder to come by in the postseason.
How well did shwarbers regular season success translate to postseason success last year or the year before?
