Friends and I grew up in an era where there were exceptionally inexpensive candy stores within walking distance and in any direction that you can walk to. We ate so much candy and were wired all day. A tiny note: up to our late teen years, we never ever (rarely) sat down. We climbed trees, got knee-deep in ponds and lakes looking for frogs and general exploring, skinned our knees and dislocated bones, and rode our rusty bicycles through trails that have sand traps and mud. Now, I see mostly children exploring their phones and/or riding their battery-powered bicycles/scooters...sometimes they are doing both of those things at the same time. Every generations has their thang.
I do wonder what life would be have been like with less to no sugary treats when we were young and growing.
