They certainly can be. If someone uses, please, do not use to mask pain nor depression. Use for celebrating as you would a beer or wine or whiskey with a friend or at a pub gathering for sports or fun. Depression and pain need the attention of professional people who are skilled at helping to manage those things. :hug:
