After watching 1 of this videos, I caught myself thinking... what is so unlikable about this guy. Then it wasn't too long before I put my finger on it.
Yes he does do research and understand the numbers behind the game. At the same time, he is a content creator first and an educator second. He says and does things in his videos purely to get more views rather than truly try to educate his audience. Yet he tries VERY HARD to come off as differentiating himself from other content creators by being "scientific."
Also, his ego isn't gaining him any friends either... a statement he made on a recent video, "who knows, maybe they know something I don't know... me doing this professionally for 10 years"
Some examples are this:
He created a video showing why the Nova Sorc is still the best farmer in the game, and makes the statement that it can clear all enemies in the game no problem. Of course, everyone's mind will go to, what about T5 Heralds (since they are one of the toughest encounters in the game right now). So he COULD mention it, but instead he purposefully doesn't so that he can wait for people to come spam his comments about it. Then in the next video, he acts all surprised like, oh man, you all attacked me and said this build can't do T5 heralds! I get that's what content creators need to do... generate engagement... but it comes off so disingenuous.
He created one of the original videos saying Eth Ariocs is the best ES Warlock weapon. And he didn't mince words... "there is a best, and that is Arioc's needle". How can you claim to be "scientific" and make some kind of statement like that? It's very obvious, again, he says/does things like that for rage/engagement. Either that or he truly is clueless or doesn't understand what "best" means. Spoiler alert, Eth Ariocs is not the best in any category other than maybe highest damage in a specific setup. But there are so many better options if you look at the overall build/gear.
He created a Blood Boil guide on Maxroll full of bad advice and also calls it a B tier build (when in reality it is right up there with ES). Fair enough, guide was made early so he may have been working on pre-optimized information. But nope, guide is still up with all the bad information. Also in his latest video, he said he "just found out" that blood boil doesn't deal damage for each demon you have out. Why on earth did you make a Blood Boil build guide if you don't know one of the most basic concepts of the build?? Christ man...
I think he has a good understanding of the mechanics and numbers of the game, and can play it... but his content creation persona is just too hard to ignore. That and the fact that he's fine with mis-educating his audience purely for more engagement are why I can't stand the guy.
He also gives off poor ppl vibes. Tests builds with mods instead of slapping together real in game items. If youre making money making videos about this game the least you could do is show realistic builds, not perfect roll theoretical maxima.
