It might objectively not be a big deal, but that's not the point. The point is that this propsal signals Trump's priorities: while Americans are reeling from surging gas prices and AI-based layoffs and the national debt stands at a staggering $39 trillion, Trump spends his precious time planning a monument to his own greatness - which would of course be built with hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars.
That's just tone-deaf and politically incompetent for a guy whose political career was built on his appeal to disaffected working-class voters.
