I think RNGsus is trolling me.
Two nights ago, I was rolling some TZ’s and got three heralds in one zone. Kids were asleep, wife was in bed - was now the time to try out these world stone shards? I think so!
Act 1 here we come! I was meticulousl! I scoured every inch of the map to hit all the champs and elite packs! I finally got the Ire of number four in the mausoleum, but the Herald didn’t hunt me until the Jail. That’s okay, some room left to go. Felt like a lot of zones without a herald, but that’s how the RNG works I guess?
I hit the Catacombs and still didn’t have my fifth herald’s ire. Level 3 hit and wouldn’t you know it? A western shard drops - the games way of apologizing for wasting my time? That’s okay, I’ll take it! Halfway through Cat 3, I catch the ire! But no hunt to be found. I hit level 4, and FINALLY the little bugger spawns! Killed him with ease - no drops of note, but at least he spawned.
Fast forward to last night. Same situation with the fam - some free time!
I log in, and Worldstone Keep is terrorized - sweet! Find a herald on my way to Throne, hunts me right away. Wave 3 of Baals minions, I catch another ire! Oooh! Finish off Baal, then run back to Worldstone 2 to see if it’ll hunt me.
I catch the ire of number 3! Still no hunts, but the ire of two more is nice! Just as I finish clearing Worldstone, TZ changes to Chaos. I’ll try my luck at having them hunt me there!
No luck in Chaos, but as I kill Diablo I catch the ire of a FOURTH herald - three of which still have to spawn!
Is now the time I use my free Worldstone shard? I think so!
Herald number 2 spawns in the Den of Evil! Okay, not bad!
I hit the Cave in Cold Plains, and wouldn’t you know it - Coldcrow drops another Western Shard. I should have taken that as a hint to just stop now… but I just thought I was lucky! Look at all these free shards!
It took another four zones before my third herald even hunted me. Still no ire of the fifth.
By the time I hit the Jail, D2R must have felt bad for me as a ghosty-boy dropped an Ohm rune. I’ll take it - but where are all these heralds? I finally get the fourth to spawn, and quickly after catch the ire of the fifth. It takes until Cat 2 before the 5th heralds spawns - still no sunders, but at least I still have a couple zones left.
Andy dies and drops nothing. Two nights. Two huge head starts. Two shards. And only two level 5 heralds.
Am I doing something wrong? Or are the RNG gods really telling me to stop staying up until 1am farming Act 1?
